Geocache Description:

Telonium

Located on the embouchure to the Merano country, about 10 minutes by car from Merano, lies the village Töll (Töll = Telonium = customs station), district of the municipality Partschins. Located at about 500 m above sea level, the small village is particularly popular as a starting point for walks in the valley but also high up in the mountains. Thanks to the train stations Töll is also connected to the Vinschgerbahn, this invites also the cities of Merano and Bolzano for a day trip.
1388 the customs station of Plars (into today's guest house "Rössl", since its renovation a few years ago called again "Zollwirt") was published on the Töll and became the most important in Tirol. A trip is also worthwhile to St. Helena's Chapel. The church in the Gothic style was first mentioned in 1326, but it is thought that it was much older. The neo-Gothic altars consecrated in the interior, Saint Nepomuk and St. Valentin, date from the 17th century.
For hiking, guests will find countless possibilities here. For example the Peter-Mitterhofer path starts at Töll, but also the Marlinger and Algund irrigation channel are close by. I wish you much fun with your stay.
