Please enjoy this cache atop San Mateo's Sugarloaf Mountain, where you'll find moderately challenging trails and beautiful views!
The cache title is a nod to Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain," which I always get stuck in my head along the trails here. The song is a lament for lost youth, but you won't feel old while pursuing this geocache. Well, maybe afterward, when you aching calves are recovering from the workout. :)
There are a few ways to access the cache:
1) Park at the Laurelwood Park entrance off Glendora Drive and walk east to the steps that lead to the Natural Amphitheatre Trail steps. That hike is about 1 mile long, but the switchbacks make the ascent a little easier.
2) Park off Bishop Road and start at the Saddle Trail before connecting with the Sugarloaf Spur Trail. This hike is only one-half a mile, but the Saddle Trail is quite steep.
See trail head waypoints for exact coordinates. Happy caching!
