Geocache Description:

A traditional cache near Port Craig in Fiordland National Park.

This cache is located at a secluded cove close to the former logging settlement, Port Craig.  It can be accessed by the Hump Ridge or South Coast tracks and an overnight trip is necessary.  Check the DOC reference website for the track at http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/fiordland/southern-fiordland/south-coast-track/ for track conditions and information about what to pack, walking distances etc.

Head down to the beach from Port Craig and start searching from there.  You'll have to go through an interesting rock bivouac that has been used as shelter in the past.  Lots of birds around here and you might see dolphins too!

The cache is hidden at the back of the beach just in front of the cliffs where the bush starts. The cache is roughly in the centre of the beach. It is a small 200ml sistema container contained within a plastic bag, squeezed between a root for stability.
