Here's a little bit of history about this area for you as per the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historic Monuments of Scotland.
St Catherine's Nunnery is supposed to have been located in this area along with a Holy Well which was said to have had healing properties. No remains of the Nunnery or Well exist.
