The broad white sandy beach to the south is a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike.  With its gentle shoreline and friendly waves Asilomar is a great place to teach children about boogie boarding (though occasional rips and cold water still require caution).  Beyond (south of) the little mid-beach drainage dogs can freely romp and play and bon fires are popular in the summer.  Asilomar is a spectacular place to watch the sunset and strolling along the boardwalk to Spanish Bay for a glass of wine while the bagpiper serenades the end of day is about as romantic as it gets!  Ah...beloved Asilomar.
