Geocache Description:

Mount Saint John (also Te Kopuke or Tikikopuke) is a volcanic scoria cone in Epsom, in the Auckland volcanic field of New Zealand. It has a peak 126 metres above sea level and a crater around 150 m wide. It was the site of a pā, and has retained Māori earthworks from that era such as kumara pits and terracing. The age of Mount St John is currently unknown but is older than 28,500 years old as the scoria cone is mantled in ash from Three Kings volcano.

Take a walk around the rim and enjoy the city views. Watch out for those kumara pits.

Enter the volcano if you dare.

Cache is a pill bottle - BYOP. Sorry no room for swaps.

Cache is hidden in a very visable spot if other people are about, so stealth may be required. .

Great location for children but not push chairs or wheel chairs. Dogs on-leash only as there may be sheep about.

Access to this volcano can be gained from Mt St John Ave, Belvedere St, Warborough Ave and Market Rd.

This is our 1st ever geocache hide. Kiwiscot (10 yrs old) chose the location. She loved the fact she could walk down inside the volcano crater.
