This cache has been archived.

Cache Effect: Archiving at the request of the land manager.

There are two geocaches in one of our parks that were most likely placed before our geocache directive was in place. Our Geocache Coordinators would like the geocache to be removed as it is in an ecologically sensitive area............ we request that it be removed, as well as, removed from your website.

Thanks for your understanding!

This geocache is located atop the 1740 meter summit of Windy Point Ridge, a prominent ridge which can be hiked year round. Between Dec. 1 and May 15 travel to the Windy Point Ridge Summit will require a minimum hike of 11 kilometers with about 300 meters of elevation gain. In the summer, the hike is reduced to 3.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 250 meters.

WINTER ACCESS: Between December 1st and May 15, Highway 546 is closed at the Sandy McNabb Campground. Park at the seasonal closure gate and walk about 3.5 kilometers along the road to the trailhead.

Once at the trailhead, hike up the Windy Point trail until you reach the intersection to Foran Grade. Turn left (west) and head off trail to the summit of Windy Point Ridge. The route gets a little steep near the top but once at the summit the views are outstanding.

Enjoy this amazing summit!
