One of a small series of caches placed with January in mind, when our thoughts turn to redeeming ourselves after the festive excesses, giving up bad habits or getting some new good ones!
In 2012, the Olympics took place in London, and the exploits of the likes of Mo Farah and Usain Bolt inspired many of us.
You'll possibly remember that Mo Farah won Olympic gold in London in the 10,000m (among other things) and Usain Bolt won gold in the 100m (among other things). There was talk of a race between the two, although as far as we know this never took place. But let's imagine it did....
Let's say that Usain was able to sustain his 100m pace for a full 10,000m (ignore the theoretical impossibility of this). How fast would he be? Using both Mo and Usain's 2012 Olympic Gold-medal-winning times as a reference, calculate the difference in their hypothetical finishing times over 10,000 metres. Let this difference be ABC.DE seconds.
