Geocache Description:

35MM FILM POT WITH HOOK - 2 STAGE CACHE

COLLECT CLUES AT RUSTY WATERFALL WAYPOINT.

You're going to a lovely picnic spot then follow the public footpath across a farmer's field. I love the building there: Sweet Willow Pumping Station - looks like a mansion from a Poirot mystery!

RUSTY WATERFALL WAYPOINT: Identify the numerical values for A and B.

A= ___?: The waterfall flows over the roots of a tree that stands above it: how many major trunks does it have?

B= ___?: There are a group of seats on the other bank - like topless toadstools. How many of them are there?

THE SEVENTH TALE OF THE MERRY MEN OF GOTHAM

During Lent, the church expected people to fast and eat no meat, only fish. People went to great lengths to keep fish alive and fresh for the whole 6 weeks and it was a great nuisance. Now one Good Friday the men of Gotham were all talking together and discussing what to do with their remaining white herrings, red herrings, their sprats and salt fish. After much consultation they agreed that all such fish should be cast into the pond in the middle of the village so that their numbers would increase and they’d have lots of fish for the year ahead.

So that’s exactly what they did: red herrings, white herrings, sprats and all went into the pond and they sat back and waited for a bumper harvest.

At the beginning of Lent the following year, they went fishing in the pond, imagining that they should have all the fish they’d need to last them all through Lent, but were much surprised to find nothing living in the pond but a great - fat – eel, which they scooped up in a net.

‘Damn him!’ they cried, ‘A mischief on this eel, for he has eaten up our fish. What must we do with him?’ ‘Kill him!’, said one ‘Chop him into pieces!’ said another ‘No – since he’s so fond of the water – let’s drown him!’ said yet another This seemed a very fitting punishment so the men scooped the eel out of the pond in their net and all marched down to Gotham bridge where they threw him into the water.

‘Lie there, said these wise men, ‘and drown – for you’ll get no more help from us!’ Delighted at having their revenge, they clapped one another’s backs as they marched back to Gotham, leaving the eel to drown!
