Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed at the statue of countryside legend Tom Weir which was unveiled on the banks of Loch Lomond to mark what would have been his 100th birthday.

Tom died aged 91 in 2006 , and was regarded as “Scotland’s most popular mountain man” who introduced generations to Scotland’s outdoors through his adventures which were popularised in his Weir’s Way series. As well as presenting Weir's Way between 1976 and 1987, he wrote a monthly feature in the Scots Magazine for about 50 years. Weir was born in Springburn, and was the younger brother of the actress Molly Weir. After service in the Royal Artillery during World War II, he worked as a surveyor for the Ordnance Survey, before commencing a full-time career as a climber, writer and photographer.

To find the cache:

Go to the listed co-ordinates where you will find the statue of Tom and a memorial plaque. Count the following -

A=The number of teeth visible on the statue (careful now!)

B=The third digit that appears on the plaque

C=The number of lights on the ground

D=The number of words in red on the plaque (or brown, as the colours seem to be fading!)

Now go to: N56 0A.BAC W004 3C.DAC

A quick check: the sum of A to D = 12
