This cache IS at the posted coordinates; however this is a challenge cache and you must qualify in order to claim this find.
It follows 12 and precedes 14, but what's so unlucky about #13? The number 13 has been synonymous with bad luck. Researchers estimate that at least 10% of the U.S. population has a fear of the number 13.
Superstition sufferers try to avoid bad luck by staying away from anything related to the number thirteen.
Here are a few examples:
-It is considered unlucky to have 13 guests at the table.
-Friday the 13th has been considered the unluckiest day of the month.
-Companies and manufacturers use alternate ways of numbering or labeling to avoid this number; hotels and tall buildings being prominent examples. More than 80% of hi-rise buildings in the USA do not have a 13th floor and a majority of hotels, hospitals and airports avoid using the number for rooms and gates.
-Old superstition says if you have 13 letters in your name, you will have the devil's luck. (Think Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, Theodore Bundy and Albert De Salvo)
And on a more positive note...
-The baker's dozen: thank 13th-century medieval bakers for the bonus treat! British breadmakers would add an extra loaf in order to avoid being penalized for selling short weight. Since bakers wanted to stay on the right side of the law, one common trick was to give 13 loaves to any customer buying a dozen. If the loaves were light, the extra would cover the shortfall.
