Nelson Park 2 (Napier) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

nzkites: We called in to check on this today and the vegetation at GZ has grown up a lot since our last visit, making it no longer a nice place to hunt for a cache. As a result we've decided to archive it.

Geocache Description:

This park is developed on land that was reclaimed from the Ahuriri Lagoon and swamp in 1908. In 1909, the Council purchased 20 acres for a park and named it in honour of a pioneering settler William Nelson. After the 1931 earthquake, 500 tents erected on the park provided emergency accommodation. During World War II the park was used by the army.

Nelson Park - newly mowed

Nowadays Nelson Park is predominantly used for cricket in summer. It also has Petanque and a Tennis Club. During school days the nearby Nelson Park School uses it as a play & recreation area. Mr nzkites' children attended this primary school, which celebrated 100 years of education in Sept 2014.

This cache replaces our previous one at Nelson Park which we had to archive.

You are looking for a small sistema-like container with log book, pen, and room for small swaps and trackables. There could be lots of people around so please be careful not to be seen as you retrieve or replace the cache.
