Mistaken Island is an island located approx 5kms SE of Albany in King George Sound. The island is located approx 120 metres from Vancouver peninsula.
In 1971 Mistaken Island was declared as a class 1A reserve with a total area of 12 hectares. A small colony of Fairy Penguins inhabit the island. The water surrounding the island is popular for snorkelling and scuba diving. The area adjacent to the island is used to cultivate mussels.
