Zieglbrugg

Die altehrwürdige "Zieglbrugg", wie sie im Volksmund genannt wird, wurde erstmals 1168 und 1326 erwähnt. Ihren heutigen Namen hat sie von einem Ziegeldach, das sie einst überdeckte. An der Stelle dieser beachtenswerten Bogenbrücke überspannte schon zur Römerzeit eine Brücke die an dieser Stelle nur 16m breite wildromantische Klamm, die sich die Etsch im Laufe unzähliger Jahre durch Erosionstätigkeit geschaffen hat. Die damalige Brücke war Teil der berühmten Römerstraße Via Claudia Augusta, die über Forst die Töller Talstufe erreicht.
Das Schleusenhäuschen, das auf drei gemauerten Stützen, mit Porphyrquadern verkleidet, steht, dient zur Bedienung der Schleuse. Es wurde um 1925 errichtet und bildet mit den übrigen Anlagen der Etschwerke, die von 1893-1895 entstanden, ein beeindruckendes technisches Industriedenkmal. Die Ziegelbrücke und das Schleusenhäuschen wurden im Jahre 2003 mustergültig renoviert. Beide Bauwerke bilden nun, gemeinsam mit der malerischen Töller Klamm, ein harmonisches Ensemble am Beginn des Vinschgaus.

La venerabile "Ziegelbrugg" (ponte di mattonelle), come viene chiamato dalla tradizione popolare, fu menzionato per la prima volta nel 1168 e nel 1326. L`odierno nome deriva da un tetto di mattonelle, che un tempo lo ricopriva. Al posto di questo considerevole ponte ad arco, già ai tempi dei romani vi era un ponte sulla gola molto romantica, che qui ha una larghezza di soli 16m, che nell`arco di parecchi anni l`Adige si è creato attraverso le erosioni. Il ponte di allora era parte della famosa srada romana Via Claudia Augusta, che raggiungeva il fondovalle di Tel attraverso Foresta.La casa delle chiuse, che poggia su tre supporti murati ed è rivestita di parallelepipedi di porfido, serve per far funzionare la chiusa. Fu costruita verso il 1925 e rappresenta assieme alle altre strutture degli "Etschwerke", che furono fondate negli anni 1893-1895, un monumento tecnico - industriale imponente. Il ponte Ziegelbrücke e la casa delle chiuse furono restraurati in maniera esemplare nel 2003. Amedue le strutture ora formano assieme alla gola pittoresca di Tel, un insieme armonioso all`inizio della Val Venosta.

The time-honoured "Ziegelbrugg", as the tile bridge is called in common parlance, was first mentioned in 1168 and 1326. It owes its present name to a tiled roof that once covered it. Where this noteworthy arched bridge now stands, the wild, romantic gorge that the Adige River has formed over the course of countless years is only 16m wide: there had already been a bridge at the same spot in Roman times to cross it. That former bridge was part of the well-known Roman road Via Claudia Augusta that led to the rising valley of Töll via Forst.
The little sluice house that stands on three brick pillars lined with cut porphyry stones is for operating the sluice. It was build around 1925, and along with the other facilities of the Etschwerke company that were build from 1893-1895 it forms an impressive technical industrial monument. The tile bridge and the little sluice house were escemplary renovated in the year 2003. TOgether with the picturesque gorge of Töll, both edifices now form a harmonious ensemble at the entrance of the Vinschgau.
