De kerk van de heilige Andreas? Weinig Gentenaars zullen ze kunnen aanwijzen. De ortodoxe kerk is misschien beter gekend. Hier sta je tussen 2 Sint-Andreaskerken. In de oude, een gewoon begijnhofhuis, werd in 1972 de ortodoxe parochie in Gent opgericht. Aan de overzijde van de straat werd een nieuwe kerk gebouwd, duidelijk herkenbaar als ortodox gebedshuis. Die is in gebruik sinds 1997. De mozaïeken in de gevel, de heilige Andreas en zijn 11 collega-apostelen, werden in 2014 aangebracht.

Ask for the Saint Andrew Church, and only a few people will be able to show. The orthodox church is perhaps better known. Here you're standing between two St. Andrew Churches. In the old one, just a beguinage house, the orthodox parish in Ghent was founded in 1972. On the other side of the street a new church was built, clearly recognizable as ortodox prayer house. She's in use since 1997. The mosaics on the façade, St. Andrew and his 11 fellow apostles, were added in 2014.
