The Walk
To walk the full circuit it is s shade over 6k and is mostly on wide fire trails. It does entail a decent bit of uphill with highest point some 200m above the lowest point. There are at least three distinct woodland areas dominated by the eucalypt type suiting the conditions. It would normally take 2 hours for the circuit but of course looking for caches adds somewhat to that. At one stage the track goes along the tip boundary fence and although not the most sublime environment it is nevertheless interesting to look down on. Sadly there is also woody weeds on the sandstone country near the start of the walk (now mostly removed). Cascade Gardens has toilets and picnic tables and there is a roomy off-street car park. The walking track starts near the facilities by following some steps going to an upper level where a path sidling the slope will then be obvious.
The sharpest climb when coming from Cascade Gardens is on the left when the second junction is reached some 600m from the start (S42 53.593 E147 17.448). We nearly always go this way but the right branch is a more gradual climb. In either case you go one way on one and return on the other.
See the maps and profile below.
The Cache
This cache is about 600 metres from the car park and is soon after leaving the sandstone area and close to the main track junction.
