The Pákozd-rocking stones nature reservation area is in the Velence Mountains, on the north side of Pákozd village. The area is under protection since 1951. The elevation is from 200 to 250 meters and the area is divided by unique geological formations, the so-called rocking stones. The granite blocks popping up from the eroded surface of the The Velence Mountains resisted to the erosion and the wind and the water removed the detritus from the ravines. Today they are stacked to each other, they have rounded edges and they overtop from the environment. Some of them are picturesque and sometimes bizarre formations making an impression that the not stabile rocks are clamped to each other by humans. The most eroded, round shaped rocks were called ‘wooly bags’ by the local vernacular.
The most famous rocking stones located on the northern side of Pákozd village. The Gomba-kő (Mushroom-stone) and and Kis-Cipó (Small-Loaf) is located on the eastern side of the Sár-hegy (Mud Hill – 226 m). On the northern side of the Mud Hill around the Pogány-kő (Pagan Hill – 241 m) there are the Pogány-kő (Pagan-rock), Oroszlán-szikla (Lion-rock), Kocka-kő (Cube-stone) and Pandúr-kő (Gendarme-Stone). The Pákozd-rocking stones can be approached from the village on tourist trail either by walking or by bicycle and the rocking stones have been connected by the Granit geological trail since 1994.
The easiest way to find the cache is to follow the Granit geological trail. There are several junctions, you have to turn left at the 3rd one if you started from the car park at the end of the Ingókő street.
The cache is in the south direction from the Small-Loaf.
You will find more rocking stones around the cache and there is a nice view from the top of the hill.
A Pákozdi-ingókövek természetvédelmi terület a Velencei-hegységben, Pákozdtól északra található. Az 1951 óta védelem alatt álló, 200–250 méteres tengerszint feletti magasságban húzódó dombos területet Magyarországon egyedülálló földfelszíni alakzatok, az ún. ingókövek elszórt csoportjai tagolják. A Velencei-hegység lepusztult felszínéből előbukkanó gránittömbök ellenálltak az eróziónak, s a köztük lévő hasadékokból a víz és a szél felszínalakító munkája hordta ki a törmeléket és a mállási anyagot. Napjainkra a környezetükből kiemelkedő, lekerekített élű, egymásra tornyozódó sziklacsoportok formájában bukkannak a felszínre. Némelyikük festői, esetenként bizarr formációt alkotva olybá hat, mintha a bizonytalan egyensúlyi helyzetű sziklákat emberkéz hányta volna egymásra. Az erózió által erőteljesebben megmunkált, gömbölyded alakú sziklákat a helyi népnyelv gyapjúzsákok néven emlegette.
A Pákozd északi előterében magasodó Pákozdi-ingókövek nevezetesebb formációi a Sár-hegy (226 m) keleti oldalában emelkedő Gomba-kő és Kis-Cipó, valamint az ettől északra, a Pogány-kő (241 m) csúcsa körül elszórt Pogány-kő, Oroszlán-szikla, Kocka-kő és Pandúr-kő. A Pákozdi-ingókövek a település felől több, kerékpárral is járható turistaúton megközelíthetőek, emellett az ingóköveket az 1994-ben létesített Gránit földtani tanösvény is összeköti.
A legegyszerűbb út a ládáhoza Gránit földtani ösvényen vezet. Több leágazási is van az ösvénynek. Ha az Ingókő utca végénél parkoltál, a harmadiknál kell balra fordulnod.
A láda a Kis-Cipótól déli irányban lesz.
A láda körül több ingókövet is fogsz találni, és a domb tetejéről szép a kilátás.
