 Risteys - Intersection  Listatut koordinaatit osoittavat keskelle isoa risteystä. Ethän mene tarkalleen sinne, vaan pysy mieluummin jalkakäytävillä ja suojateillä.

The listed coordinates point to the middle of a major intersection. Please do not go exactly there, rather stay on sidewalks and crosswalks.

 Viiskulma, Helsinki  Helsingin Viiskulmassa risteävät Laivurinkatu, Pursimiehenkatu, Fredrikinkatu, Laivurinrinne ja Tarkk'ampujankatu. Viiskulma on kiinnostava myös arkkitehtonisesti. Siihen rajoittuvat viiden rakennuksen kapeat julkisivut, fasadit. Useamman talon fasadin ylimmät ikkunat poikkeavat muista.

Pursimiehenkadun ja Laivurinkadun välisessä kulmassa olevan talon ylimmän ikkunan ruutujen määrä on luku A. Tarkk'ampujankadun ja Laivurinrinteen välisessä kulmassa olevan talon ylimmän ikkunan ruutujen määrä on luku B. Molemmat luvut A ja B ovat enintään kymmenen.

Yhtä risteyksen julkisivuista koristaa huipulla pääilmansuunnat. Sen talon risteyksenpuoleisen sisäänkäynnin luota löytyy seinästä messinkinen suorakulmainen laatta, missä ovat luvut CDEF.

The intersection presented here is known as Viiskulma ('Five Corners') and, thus, five streets cross there: Laivurinkatu, Pursimiehenkatu, Fredrikinkatu, Laivurinrinne, and Tarkk'ampujankatu. Viiskulma is interesting architectonically, as well. The narrowish facades of five buildings meet there. In many of the buildings the topmost windows differ from the others.

The topmost window of the building in the corner of the streets Pursimiehenkatu and Laivurinkatu has A number of windowpanes. The topmost window of the building in the corner of the streets Tarkk'ampujankatu ja Laivurinrinne has B number of windowpanes. Both of the numbers A and B are ten at the most.

One of the Five Corners' facades has been decorated with cardinal points on the top. Next to the main entrance, that is the entrance from the intersection, of that building you'll find a rectangular brass plaque with the numbers CDEF.

 Viiskulma, Vantaa  Vantaalta eli entisen Helsingin maalaiskunnan alueelta löytyy myös viiden väylän risteys. Risteyksen tarkka osoite on N 60° 1[A-3].[DEF-591] E 025° 0[B-3].[DEF-857].

Väylät ovat ahkerassa käytössä ympäri vuoden, kesäisinä aikoina ne ovat leveimmillään ja lumisina aikoina kapeimmillaan. Vantaan viiskulman risteysalueelta löytyy kätkökin. Sen löytää toki myös päivänvalossa, mutta illan hämärryttyä taskulampun kanssa etsiminen on hauskempaa. Kätkön käsiinsä saamiseen ja palauttamiseen on pitkä onkivapa tukevalla koukulla paikallaan.

Hyvältä parkkipaikalta jää tallusteltavaa alle parisataa metriä, lähimmältä bussipysäkiltä vähän enemmän. Hauskoja hetkiä Viiskulmissa!

The City of Vantaa, formerly known as Helsinki Rural Municipality, has a Five Corners' Intersection, as well. The exact address of the intersection is N 60° 1[A-3].[DEF-591] E 025° 0[B-3].[DEF-857].

Very near the intersection you'll find a geocache, too. You'll find it in a broad daylight, no doubt, but after dark with a flashlight it's more fun. Getting hands on the box, and returning it, would, though, require a longish rod with a firm hook.

From the nearest parking area there's only roughly two hundred meters walking, from the nearest busstop a bit more. Happy hunting with the Five Corners!
