My wife traveled to Bolivia a couple of years ago, and I was left in charge of our daughters while she was away for 11 days. Needless to say they were well taken care of...except for their hair, and maybe the way they were dressed; but I did feed them regularly and they received at least one bath that I can remember. My wife actually posted this to her friends, "Can someone please go to my house and fix my daughters' hair", hahaha. I managed to get my kids through each day, even had them keep practicing their music lessons *insert father of the week award here* (did you know that Beethoven was rumored to have poured a bucket of cold water on his head each time he sat down to compose?)
We had a lot of fun while she was away.
When she returned she discovered that the girls had some new favorite interests, courtesy of me; and my wife is still shaking her head :o)
I'm sure she thought I was just trying to make them into the boys I didn't have, but really I was just doing the best I could each day to make sure they weren't crying their eyes out, missing the actual most important person in their daily lives, while I pretended to have everything under control (ok, I admit that most of the meals were fast food, and there was some ice cream involved *takes away father of the week award here*). We all survived unscathed.
One thing in particular made a huge impact on my daughters' brains, and it still plays a big part in their day-to-day activities & interests
No spoilers please
Have fun, and good luck
