We discovered this hiding place while going on a geocache hike today and thought it would be a perfect spot. Located off the Osprey Trail, you will see the remnants of prescribed burns that have taken place here on Honeymoon Island. Though it sounds dangerous to intentionally set a forrest fire by the parks service, these burns are contained and help promote the growth of native plants as well as maintaining many plant and animal species.
The cache is north of an environmentally sensitive area, PLEASE do not disturb that area! The cache is located in an area where walking is permitted, but you do not have to go more than a few yards off the trail to reach it. Please practice cache in trash out. Camo container is large enough for small treasures, trackables, and other goodies. NO FOOD in caches! Insect repellent may be needed, though there was not any poison ivy in the area when the cache was hidden, it is everywhere on the island, beware!
Congrats to enotide for FTF!
