This geocache is located within the Forestry Commission woodland, along Phemies walk, which passes through a variety of trees from native oaks to massive conifers. The Gaelic name for this wood is 'A Choille Ghorm' - which means The Blue Wood. This name may come from the colour of the conifers or from the spectacular display of bluebells in the spring time. The walk is named after Phemie Mackinnon who worked for the Forestry Commission and was a well known figure in Strontian, who lived for many years in the croft house just up the hill to the left of the walk entrance.
This is a family and dog friendly geocache but sorry not suitable for wheelchairs. Parking can be found in the village centre next to the tourist information centre. Thank you to the Forestry Commission (Lochaber) for allowing us to place this geocache.
We have decided to name our geocaches after dogs as the 'Hairy Spangle' (spaniel) is an important if completely useless member of our team!
well done Malx194 for FTF.x
