Geocache Description:

An easy park and grab

This cache is in view of the Lincoln furnace , which was chiseled in a sandstone cliff . The area had several iron furnaces which were fed with ore and fuel from local hillsides . Transportation systems were nonexistent at the time . The iron ingots (pigs) were loaded on rafts made of local timber and floated down raccoon creek during high water periods all the way to the Ohio river . When turning off route 32 turn left onto Charles Beirhup road . The middle fork and right fork of the road is entrance to an active mine site as evidenced by signs and gates . Park and grab. Small lock and lock with little room for swag .BYOP Enjoy
