Geocache Description:

Thanks to wikipedia and PiDay.org (visit link) !

Pi Day is an annual celebration commemorating the mathematical constant pi (π).  It is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three digits of pi.  This year adds the next two digits as well (1, 5)! Some geocachers are making this an Ultra World Wide Multi Event!

The earliest known official celebration of Pi Day was organized by Larry Shaw in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium.  On March 12, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing March 14 as National Pi Day.

What is Pi?
Pi (π) is the mathematical constant that has been known for almost 4000 years.  Its value is the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter in Euclidean space (C=πd), or the ratio of a circle's area to the square of its radius (A=πr2).  The value of pi is approximately equal to 3.141592653, but it is an irrational number and its decimal representation never ends or repeats.  You can remember the first digits of pi (3.1415926) by counting each word's letters in "May I have a large container of coffee?"

Let's celebrate! You meet the nicest people geocaching!

What:  Pi Day Pie Exchange.  Bring a pie---homemade or bakery special---apple, banana cream, blackberry, cherry, key lime, lemon meringue, peanut butter, pecan, pumpkin, or ... ?  Cut it into six slices and plan to exchange pieces with other participants, so you'll have a fun selection of desserts all week.  That is, of course, unless you decide to sample your trades with a cup of coffee or tea at the event!

When:  Saturday 3/14/15 2:00-4:00 pm. Group Photo at 3:14:15!
