Zur Geschichte:
Die Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rum wurde am 21. August 1892 von 23 Rumer Bürgern gegründet. Sie wurden zur Rettung der wehrlosen Menschen vor der Vernichtung von Hab und Gut ins Leben gerufen. Die Vorarbeiten zur Gründung leistete der Gastwirt SAURWEIN Ferdinand mit einem Herrn ZOLLER aus Innsbruck und einem Herrn WÜRTENBERGER Michael aus Absam. Die Gemeinde Rum zählte damals 650 Einwohner. Am Gründungstag schlossen sich weitere Männer der Feuerwehr an, sodass die Wehr am Gründungstag 40 Männer zählte.

Früher besaß das Dorf wohl eine Spritze mit einem Saugzylinder und engen Schläuchen, aber das Wasser musste mit Feuerwehreimern zur Spritze gebracht werden. Diese Feuereimer waren lederne Wasserkübel und hatten einen Riemen zum Tragen. Um die Spritze mit Wasser zu versorgen, wurden die Leute, die herbeigelaufen kamen, in zwei Reihen aufgestellt und die Kübel wanderten von Hand zu Hand, die vollen von der Wasserquelle bis zur Spritze und die leeren den umgekehrten Weg. History:
The voluntary fire brigade Rum was founded on 21 of August 1892 by 23 citizen from Rum. The aim was to plead defenseless people from loosing their goods and chattles. The groundwork for the foundation was done by the barkeeper SAURWEIN Ferdinand, mister ZOLLER from Innsbruck and mister WÜRTENBERGER Michael from Absam. The township Rum had back then 650 citizen. On the founding date much more men joined the voluntary fire brigade. At the end of that day they had 40 member.

In former times the township owned a nozzle with a vacuum cylinder and hose with tight diameter, but the water had to be transferd with buckets to the nozzle. This special fire brigade buckets were made out of leather and had a lace to carry them. To supply the nozzle with water the people formed two lines and handed-on the buckets to each other. The full buckets were passed-on from the source of water to the nozzle and the emty ones were handed back the other way. (source: Fire Brigade Rum www.ffrum.at)
