Geocache Description:

An easy cache for all to enjoy. Should be a quick find.

Most people don't know that this site exists, but was interesting to us, so hope others will also enjoy it.

Usually not a high muggle area, road has been revamped so you can drive right up to the site using the truck harbour access route.

Cache can be spotted from the walkway. No need to go trampsing through the grounds. Please respect the site.

This cache is placed nearby a historic site dedicated to a well known Indigenous Australian tracker named Tommy Windich. Tommy (1840-1876) was a member of multiple expeditions in Western Australia during the 60's and 70's.

Tommy was very competent in bushcraft and tracking from his aboriginal upbringing, and became a very capable horseman and marksman through extensive contact with colonialists. These skills as well as his knowledge of a number of Aboriginal languages allowed him to be a very valuable asset to the colonialists.

Although Tommy is mostly known for his assistance with John Forrest's expeditions, he was also involved with other explorers including Charles Hunt as well as recapturing a number of criminals with the police.
