Geocache Description:

CHURCH OF ST ETHELBERT

Another fine medieval norfolk church. The fine square tower and the nave are dated from the 14th century, but the church is thought to possibly have norman origins. It has clerestory windows which let in a lot of light. There is an archbraced roof to the porch and nave. The porch also has some handy  bench seats.  Inside the font is 15th century, and there are surviving poppy head bench ends. The rood stairs still survive.

Building work in 1996 in the Nave revealed a flint wall with a blocked doorway, timber beams, a clay floor and medieval floor tiles, and also a medieval coin

There a some fine trees in the church yard, which is also a rather unusual site for a World War Two spigot morter gun emplacement.

The cache is not in the church grounds. A very short walk is required due to the close proximity of another one of our caches.

Park at the church and carefully cross the road to the quieter road opposite but please be aware of possible farm traffic. The cache is a short distance up this road.

You are looking for a camoflaged film cannister
