Legend has it that long ago, a distraught young couple came here, fleeing the wrath of a domineering and avaricious father. She was the only child of a wealthy merchant, he was a handsome but impoverished stable-lad in her father’s employ, and they were deeply in love. But it was a love that was forbidden, a love that they could never share in this life. So they came to down this lane and to the rocky outcrop known ever since as Lovers' Leap to end it all and be together forever in the hereafter. Fondly embracing, they bade a tearful adieu to this cruel world, then, hand in hand, they ran to the cliff-edge and jumped.
The cache is located along the trail heading to Lovers' Leap, at a 'lost place': a ruin of an old house. It's a non traditional container but I'm sure you've seen it before. Please be careful handling the outer container, don't drop it!!
The path is well worn by dog walkers, fishers and rock climbers making their way down, but it can be overgrown in the summer so some bushwhacking may be necessary. When I placed the cache, there was a fallen tree that needed to be hopped over too. Please close the gate after you! I don't recommend doing this at night, as the lane runs behind a few houses in some places (I'm talking to you FTF hunters!
) You will need to bring your own writing utensil.
You might want to visit the other great traditional cache located directly at Lovers' Leap: J is for Jump, which is well worth the trip for the views alone.
