During its heyday, Pruntytown State Farm Wildlife Management Area was used to grow food for the residents at the West Virginia Industrial Home for Boys. Huttonsville Correctional Center in Randolph County had a similar state farm.
Today, Pruntytown State Farm is managed as a beef cattle operation by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. The 1,764-acre grounds is open for hunting a variety of animals including coyote, deer, grouse, mourning doves, rabbit, and turkey.
