You are standing where Camano City was in the early 1900’s. It was a bustling port city with a post office, general store, small hotel, shingle and lumber mills. Frequent ferry services went south to Seattle, west to Whidbey Island, and north to other Camano Island locations. It served as a public school until around 1936 when the students were transferred to schools in Stanwood. An early teacher at the school, Miss Hayden stayed with a local family the Esarys.
