First Director- Thomas Morrow left to be Deputy Director to Department of Homeland Security after seaon2.
Jenny Shepard took his place in season 3 in" Kill Ari" Part 1. She was a military brat, and former partner and lover of Gibbs while they were stationed in Euorpe. Also a rehead like Gibbs mother, and wives.
Season 5 she became terminally ill and only Ducky was aware of it, although Gibbs figured it out. She was with Mike Frank in an abondoned bar and by going through her purse he knew of it. Later confessed to Frank, and admitting she still loved Gibbs.She was killed by men sent by enemy, Natasha. She managed to kill them before being killed. Mike Frank had been out back getting water when it occured. He later shot and killed Natasha in Jenny's home, where she had Gibbs trapped. Later they decided to burn down the home, so Jenny would be reported dead in fire.
Leon Vance, assistant director, was promoted to take her place. He had grown up in Chicago and trained to be a boxer. Gibbs did not trust him although unsure why. He and Gibbs clashed many times.
Season 10, his wife Jackie was shot in their home while having dinner with Eli Davis,who was also shot and killed. Jackie died later at hospital during surgery. Vance has been left to raise their children, Kayla, and Jared
