On The Way To The Old Burial Grounds #1 Traditional Cache

This location first came to my attention in the summer of 2014, thanks to an article on the Ottawa Start blog.(See Related Web Page linked above)

I checked the geocaching map at the time, as well as the Waymarking site, and was surprised to see there were no caches there, nor was there a Waymark for the Heritage Plaque.

This is the first of two traditional caches placed along the trail that leads to the now abandoned Dwyer Hill Pioneer Roman Catholic Burial Ground

The burial ground was abandoned around 1867, is the only cemetery in the Ottawa area, and possibly all of Ontario of it's kind.

In 1998, the site was designated a Heritage Property by the former Rideau Township.

The cache is listed as a micro, but it's actually larger than a micro and smaller than a small.

When placed, the cache contained a combined log roll and stash sheet and a pencil.
Bring your own pen or pencil just in case.
