The You Yangs Regional Park is a series of distinctive granite peaks that rise from the surrounding flat volcanic plains between Melbourne and Geelong. Amongst the scrubby bushland live a diverse array of animals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. The park is popular for its numerous bushwalks, mountain bike trails, scenic drives and rock climbing opportunities. You can even bring your dog as long as he stays on his lead.
The Lower Picnic Area offers the visitor the opportunity to have a bbq or picnic, or merely a well earned cup of coffee, whilst enjoying the surrounding bush serenity. Thus, this cache is the fifth of six that radiate out from, and surround, the central picnic tables/bbq area of this particular picnic area. You can access the cache by parking in the picnic area's parking bays and then walking to the cache. There is a bit of a climb to this one so please wear appropriate footwear and tread carefully. Also please be aware that snakes are out and about between spring and autumn.
As this picnic area is widely used by muggles, especially children exploring the many and varied small rock clusters in this area, this cache is deliberately tricky so as not to be found by accident.
You are looking for a medium sized, 3 liter plastic cylinder that has been spray painted to blend in with the surroundings. It contains several trades that have a craft theme for those of you who enjoy your craft. One of the trades that I have placed inside is a crocheted baby beanie made by yours truly. Please, please when trading, replace your selection with a craft item of similar value. Please do not trade if you do not have a craft item to swap. There are big and small items to chose from and I would really like to keep the theme going, similar to the Library Stash that is elsewhere in the You Yangs. There is a log book but please bring your own pen. Please also rehide carefully due to the special items inside. Hope you enjoy the cache.
