The You Yangs Regional Park is a series of distinctive granite peaks that rise from the surrounding flat volcanic plains between Melbourne and Geelong. Amongst the scrubby bushland live a diverse array of animals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. The park is popular for its numerous bushwalks, mountain bike trails, scenic drives and rock climbing opportunities. You can even bring your dog as long as he stays on his lead.
The Lower Picnic Area offers the visitor the opportunity to have a bbq or picnic, or merely a well earned cup of coffee, whilst enjoying the surrounding bush serenity. Thus, this cache is the sixth of six that radiate out from, and surround, the central picnic tables/bbq area of this particular picnic area. You can access the cache by parking in the picnic area's parking bays and then walking to the cache. Or you may park on the side of the road on Turntable Drive, closer to this cache but it will put you further away from the other five caches. There is a low grade slope to climb to get to this one so please wear appropriate footwear and tread carefully. Also please be aware that snakes are out and about between spring and autumn.
You are looking for a medium sized, clip lock container, that has been spray painted to blend in with the surroundings. It contains several trades and a log book but please bring your own pen. Please also rehide carefully. Hope you enjoy the cache.
