A, Rewe and Netherexe Walk Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ed-don: The path that hosts B and C has been closed by Network Rail. This was always intended as a circular walk and now cachers need to make a big detour to find all of the caches in one visit. Additionally, the series doesn't get many visitors nowadays so cachers paths have regrown. This results in a high ratio of DNFs to finds meaning the maintenance burden is higher than for a freshly released series.

Because of the above, I have decided to archive this series. This is a beautiful part of the world and it is only a matter of time before new caches are placed around the lanes of Rewe and Netherexe.

Thanks to everyone who came and walked this series.

Geocache Description:

A walk of around 5 miles around the villages of Rewe and Netherexe. See http://coord.info/GC5K26V for full details.

A walk of around 5 miles around the villages of Rewe and Netherexe. There are 26 caches in the series, one for every letter of the alphabet. If you wish to do so it is easy to divert to some 'church micro' and fine pair' caches as well. Both villages lie on or near the flood plain of the River Exe so this is a relatively level walk.

Time: I set the series in around 4 hours so I expect the caches to take between 3 and 4 hours depending on your walking speed.

Terrain: Mostly level gravel tracks and country lanes with one section on a footpath across fields. I set the series in walking boots in January and my feet stayed dry. That said, this walk is on flood plain so expect puddles and muddy stretches after rainfall.

Containers: Each of the caches is a micro inside a larger home-made container. Once you have found one you will know what you are looking for.

Getting here: You can park at the given waypoint or can catch the 55 bus to Rewe from Exeter or Tiverton.

Post walk refreshments: There is a pub in Stoke Canon and a choice of several in Silverton.

Acknowledgements: Thanks to LaurenReid (now Geocaching Widow) for helping me make the caches and fill them with logbooks. Thanks to the Devon Geocachers for telling me that taking on another series is a good idea. Huge thanks also to reviewer Hanoosh for working through the review process and ironing out a few issues. I hope you think the end result is worth it.

Logging: I read every single one of the logs on my caches and like to read something about your experience of the caches in the series. 26 logs that just say 'TFTC' or 'Found it' don't make for interesting reading so please get creative!

You start by heading out of Rewe in the direction of Stoke Canon. Despite being alongside a busy road there is a good footpath alongside. You are looking for a cache just off this footpath
