Geocache Description:

This is not a bush hide and should be a quick park and grab. The area is easily accessible and children should be able to handle this one. You may need a small tool to remove and replace the log from the container as it is a tight fit. The area has a lot of vehicular traffic plus muggles. Geo-stealth will be necessary or drop by at night.

Congrats to Smoochersmom for being the FTF!!!

Some backstory on this location.

My boys and I are amateur rockhounds and spend a few weekends a year out looking for rocks and minerals in the nearby mountains and deserts around Southern California. One aspect of this hobby that’s always interested us is gold prospecting. Given my time constraints (read: Work) we’ve never had time to try this out with any degree of seriousness but we promise ourselves that one day, we might have the time.

One show that my boys and I enjoy is “Gold Rush” on Discovery Channel. Seen it? It’s pretty amazing what folks will do to try and strike it rich. Anyway, as we were looking at placing a cache, this seemed like a good place and name after watching the show last weekend.

The cache is in a red zone so you will have to park in the circle or farther into the tract and walk back. While looking for the cache, note that if you reach the Klondike, you will have gone too far into the bush and will have to head back out.

This is our first cache!
