This little cache will bring you to a location where you'll have a good view on the new Doha monorail.
Doha Monorail is a large-scale public transport project initiated and contracted by Qatar Rail. Originally planned as a metro, QRA (Qatar Rail Authority) decided an open above street level monorail would be a better solution: more visual pollution and expectedly quite noisy, which should drown out passing car engines. Currently the so-called "grey-line" is being constructed and runs from the heart of West Bay to a barren area, perfectly suited to drop off unsuspecting commuters.
The monorail is a one way, single-track, single-file system, capable of transporting 2 tons of passengers per minute; commuters have ample choice to sit or lay down; the daring could even try standing up. Initially, as introduction, no fee will be asked, but commuters should bring their own ladder to get up onto the transport system. Drop off at the terminus is automatic.
February '15 update: Due to heavy rain and snow earlier in the month, QRA has decided to roof the whole line. As a result the standing places have been converted into seated areas.
