Geocache Description:

Cache is a short way up a beautiful trail on Read Mountain, a short distance from RT. 460.  There are several caches in this area. The trail to the cache begins at a parking lot accessed from a neighborhood at the foot of the mountain.

The cache contains a variety of items such as squirt guns, small mechanical toys and balloons. It is an easy walk for the kids into the caching experience and the chance to visit a relatively new wild area close to the city of Roanoke, VA.  For the more hardy folks, you can continue the hike up to the summit and pick up several more nice caches along the way.  It is about a 2 mile hike to the summit from the parking area.
