Geocache Description:

After turning off onto the Cockscomb gravel road from the R75, you will come across this cache.

Although the Cockscomb Flower is not found in the area, we decided to do a few caches about everything Cockscomb.  This is one of them.

Cockscomb flowers are also known as Wool Flowers or Brain Celosia, suggestive of a highly colored brain. The flowers belong to the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae.

It resembles a rooster's comb, thus the name Cockscomb Flower.  These flowers can be seen in vibrant yellows, pinks, reds and gold colours.  They have no fragrance and their exact origins in the wild is still unknown.

In the language of flowers, the Celosias symbolizes humour, warmth and siliness.
