Hunting caches today, I decided to place a few caches along the contour path as I feel the route deserves more feet. Geocachers feet that is.
Realizing that not all cachers rate themselves as cliffhangers, but would still enjoy a walk in the mountain with the added bonus of a cache or four.
The game or hobby being as it is, I'm not gonna tell you where to start from or where to end. You can do a circular from Newlands, walk Kloofnek to Constantia nek, Newlands to Constantia nek, its your choice.

At this location I always reflect on the privilege we have to walk here. Stepping over what use to be the fence from the Blockhouse side (the style and gate is still there), the gift is all about what was left to us the people of South Africa by non other than Cecil John Rhodes. The following is just a small extract of his legacy.
"Rhodes acquired the Groote Schuur estate in 1891, plus 1500 adjoining acres, which, if I recall this correctly, included the land on which UCT, the Rhodes Memorial and Groote Schuur hospital are located. The actual house Rhodes had built called Groote Schuur was designed by the young and at that stage untried architect Herbert Baker (later Sir Herbert). Rhodes bequeathed the entire estate to the people of South Africa, as he died in 1902."
What many dont know is that this fenced off area on the slopes of Devilspeak is part of the greater Groote Schuur estate. You can tell that the area is or was not managed by the National parks board, just by looking at the change in vegetation. This is really old plantation, and according to research there is currently talk on how to manage the area, and who knows maybe we'll see the harvesting or felling of these trees in the not to distant future.
Fitting in with the name, the container is one that many a lady would not mind receiving as a gift. Put it to your nose, its nr5.
