(A note on parking - you can park anywhere in the Square but you'll need to pay. HOWEVER the parking coordinates lead to a FREE CAR PARK, often missed by those who aren't familiar with the area)
The Seanchaí - Kerry Writer's Museum - Tourist Office
Featuring the works of five of the great Listowel writers: John B. Keane; Bryan MacMahon; Brendan Kennelly; George Fitzmaurice and Maurice Walsh, the Seanchaí is an natural stopping point for anyone who is interested in learning how Listowel has become the Literary Capital of Ireland.
St John's Theatre
The former Protestant Church standing in the centre of the Square now holds a monthly programme of Art Exhibitions, Theatre, Music and Dance perfomances, offering a wide variety of diversions. While often hosting widely acclaimed theatrical delights, the theatre also is where one can catch local productions from the town's five amateur drama groups.
Listowel Castle
Most likely built by the Fitzmaurices in the 15th century the remaining two towers of the castle overlooking the Square are only accessible on Wednesday - Sunday, from May to August. Tours are free, though, so worth looking into if you have the time.
This is also a good place to start the River Walk, part of the Listowel Heritage Trail, where you will also find Water Under the Bridge (GC5AQBV).
Congratulations to tmsr for finding this first - within hours of its publication! Well done!
This cache and others are placed with the cooperation and support of the Listowel Tidy Towns Committee, and as such are all CITO caches. If you can pick up one piece of litter and put it in the nearest dustbin it will make us all very happy. Hopefully there will be none to find, but be sure to mention it in your log if you do!
