Have fun looking at these sculptures and the areas where they are located.  Nearby each location are several other caches that may need your attention including my Statues Tour and Wags series.  A HINT:  Sculptures Tour and Statues Tour visit many of the same places.  Look carefully at the cords.  One of the sites is well worth the time to visit the museum, house and grounds.  The final is also a museum and worth the educational walk thru the property and a visit to the museum. Look at the websites listed below and you will see what I mean.

At the final location, be careful of muggles.  As always, park legally and be respectful of the area..

More information about the sculptures may be found at http://www.marlandmansion.com/tours/grounds/south_terrace.htm

“The Power of Thought” was inspired by the drive that has led men and women through the ages to expand the human experience.  The artist Victor Issa included the Roman Coliseum, Sydney’s Opera House, Hoover Dam, Pyramids, Shakespeare, Swan Lake,  Beethovan’s 5th, Taj Mahal, Great Wall of China, Michelangelo’s Creation, the Gutenberg press, an oil derrick, and other technological, architectural, engineering scientific and artistic achievements.

“Present yourself with Pride” by artist Mondy Wells  was dedicated in September of 2008.  The commissioned bronze sculpture depicts a senior Ponca Military Acaemy cadet helping a younger cadet with his necktie.   The statue is life-size.

George, Lydie, E.W. were sculpted by Jo Davidson from blocks of French Limestone.  They have a very interesting history.  Lydie’s statue has a book that was written about it’s existence titled The Broken Statue.  Check the website listed above.

Standing Bear is a 22-foot bronze statue of a Ponca Chief, created by Cowboy Artist of America, Oreland C. Joe. To the north is a one-acre pond with central arrowhead island which holds a bronze bison statue.
