Geocache Description:

4 Funcoast Bash Dash Cache

This cache is part of our Funcoast Bash Dash Challenge Run

These caches were placed for the Funcoast Bash Dash Challenge. But we didn't get enough teams this year to participate. We still placed the caches and you can try your hand to see how you would do?

The rules are listed below, and just so you know, we DO NOT have bonus swag or items along the route since we didn't have enough teams and it was cancelled. We hope to try again next year?

This is a good six (6) to seven (7) mile hike, so keep that in mind if you want to see how you do?

The rules of the challenge:

Caches will be laid out on a set trail. Cache Team will clock in with their picture at the clock start/finish (Ranch House Road or Power Line Road) and start the fun run along trail and do the same when they finish the run.

2 Teams will be released every 30 minutes, starting at 8:30 AM to 1 PM at the latest, so no more than 16 teams Max. Each team will be sent in opposite directions from the loop.

All cachers in the group have to find and take a picture (camera or cell phone camera required) of the group holding the cache (so you can’t separate and leap frog caches). This may be verified if needed. There will be code words inside the caches to verify the find for your point sheet as well.

It will be timed run and this will count as added points to your total score. The Fastest time gets 100 points, next 90 points, next 80 points etc.

Caches will vary in Difficulty 1 – 5, the points will reflect the Diff. 1 is 10 points, 1.5 is 15 points etc. up to 50 points each for any 5 difficulty ones. There will be mix of easy on up to difficult on the trail (not all easy ammo cans - <smile>).

Teams that catch up to the others can allow them to join the search for harder ones or may request that the team that has caught up to them to please wait until they are done searching first. The strategy is up to each team to decide, you may want the help for the harder ones. The team in the lead (who gets to the GZ zone first) has the final word. If a faster team catches up to a slower team, they can pass but ONLY in between caches and not at a cache site UNLESS you want to skip that cache (it could be a 10 point cache and you want to skip it to gain a faster time, back to strategy again). Hopefully the 30-60 minute time space will be enough for most everyone.

There will be swag in the larger containers, and three of these randomly picked items will be Wildcards, as one will be worth 100 points, one 50 points and one 25 points. You must take swag with you to replace swag items in cache, No more than one piece of swag per cache per team must be taken. If more than one piece taken per team per cache the points will not be awarded.

There will be Bonus hidden items along the trail to be spotted and marked on a sheet that will have your Team name, cache name, description, D/T, Coords, hints ( if any ) and a place to mark the code word per cache, the hidden item closest to cache, and the points for the cache mentioned above.

Once all the teams have run then we will add up the points and declare winners.

We will have prizes and announcements of the winners at the event. (Next year maybe?)

Please remember if hiking to take lots of water and bug spray, and don’t confuse the two!

When we picked up the last round of caches there were several that the lids were NOT closed properly and/or the baggies were not sealed and water had ruined them. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Please take the 10 seconds to close the baggy if there is one AND/OR close the container properly. What takes you 10 seconds to do, saves us from spending hours and $$$$ replacing swag, logs and containers. Also re-hide as well as you found it or better so it doesn't get muggled.

IF the log is wet and you have a replacement, please feel free to add it, even if it is one sheet of paper. Thanks for your help in advance!
