Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in memory of my hero #42, the first black baseball player in the 20th. century to play in the minor leagues in 1946 and the major leagues in 1947.He was Rookie of the Year.

He stole home 19 times, MVP in 1949, 6 time All - Star, National League Batting Champion in 1949 and twice the league stolen base leader. #42 helped the Dodgers win 6 National League penants and the 1955 World Series. The first black player inducted into baseball's


The cache is hidden in the Fairland Regional Park with the approval of the Park Rangers. It is in a Major League Baseball magnetic box with log sheet and his stamps. Please take one! BYOP.

Directions to the park are: From I-95 or Rt. 1, take Old Gunpowder Road to the enterance at Fairland Regional Park in Beltsville, MD.
