Matthew Henson was the first African American Arctic Explorer, which kind of makes him like a geocacher in the winter climates here. The park named after him is a greenway along the Turkey Branch of Rock Creek. The park runs from Aspen Hill to Layhill, Maryland, linking the Rock Creek Trail with the Sligo Creek Trail.
When this cache was placed, it was the day after a snowstorm hit. Schools were closed, trails were icy, but a cacher has got to cache! This container has seashells in it to remind you of the warm summer months on those cold winter days. Container has room for small (summer themed) trade items. You are looking for a sandwich sized lock and lock.
