Hedel behoort tot de oudste nederzettingen in het rivierengebied en wordt voor het eerst in een schriftelijke bron genoemd in 815/816 ('Hatalle' en 'Hedilla'). 'He/ee' of 'Ha/aa' is een aanduiding voor water. Dat is niet zo'n verwonderlijke verwijzing, aangezien het Gelderse dropje aan de Maas ligt. Vlak bij het centrum ligt een mooi verborgen recreatiegebied met jachthaven. Loop eens rustig om het meertje en geniet van de kalmerende werking van de Maas. Of zoek eerst de cache en kom daarna tot rust in dit mooie stukje natuur. 
De cache is namelijk niet zomaar een oppikker, je zult even goed moeten zoeken. Succes!
Hedel is one of the oldest settlements in the area between the river Waal and Maas and is firstly mentioned in a written source in 815/816 ('Hatalle' and 'Hedilla'). 'He/ee' of 'Ha/aa' is a definition of water. That is not such a surprising reference since this village is situated on the river Maas. Near the centre of the village lies a beautiful hidden leisure area with a marina. Enjoy a peaceful walk around the lake and enjoy the soothing effect of the river Maas. Or look for the cache first before settling down in this beautiful piece of nature, for the cache isn't just up for grabs. You'll have to search thoroughly to find it. Good luck!
