Geocache Description:

Another cache in the Church Micro series. The cache is not at the published co-ordinates, which are for the south porch entrance to the parish church of St Nicholas.

This is a delightful small village church serving the local community. Because it is so worth a visit, this is a cache where you will have to enter the church building, and hopefully while you’re there take a bit of time to admire some of the treasures it contains. Unlike many country churches, the building is normally open during daylight hours, but be aware that services are held most Sunday mornings and once a month on Sunday afternoons and Sunday evenings, so it is best to avoid such times!

The C13 Nave incorporates elements of an earlier C12 field chapel, and the west tower and chancel were added in the C15. There are eye-catching remnants of medieval wall paintings including St Nicholas and the Royal Arms of George II on the interior walls. The font is early C13, and the brick porch was added in C16.

Please note that the church is not open 24 hours. On the north wall inside is a framed board listing previous incumbents since 1483, and it is from here that you need to obtain the information to lead you to the cache, which is a short walk away at
