Geocache Description:

Mana Island is a Scientific Reserve managed by DOC. Public access to the island is permitted between 8am and 5pm each day. Old farm dams on the island have become an oasis for wildlife and plant regeneration over time.

The northern end of Mana Island has a number of cabbage trees in the rank grasslands that were formerly grazed by sheep. These trees are known in the United Kingdom as "Torbay palms". Old farm dams have supported rapid natural regeneration of native plants and are used by the wildlife on the island as a source of freshwater. The cache is a small container placed close to the track.
