"Little Ol Wine Drinker Me"
In memory of my Dad.
This is my first attempt at a geocache, so I'll gladly listen to any advice and feedback from you good people. Originally I wanted to place it up in the Tree for a Life garden at Dovestones reservoir, by his oak tree that's been growing there since 2005, alas the area was too close to another cache, and I had to rethink. The cache is overlooked by a building that was one of his regular haunts "The Grotton Hotel", (now a Co-Op), and he would spend pretty much every weekend evening in there singing with his great friend Brad Newman. The cache is named after one of his most requested songs, and the one we carried him out to at his funeral!
The cache is close to the footpath that runs from Grotton Pool past the site of the old Lido, and ultimately along the old railway line to Leesbrook.
There is a free car park at the end of Station Road, within a few minutes walk, and as such the site is family friendly with only a slight gradient and easy access.
Although I spent a few hours camouflaging the cache which is a small clip seal Tupperware container, it is placed in a location that is relatively easy to access. All I would ask, is that if you do find it, that you spend just a little time to re-dress the hide ready for the next person.
Seeing as though it's my first cache, I've gone the whole hog! There's a little trophy in there for whoever is FTF to keep (it would be nice to see a photo of that with the finder .)
There is also a "Travel Bug" in there attached to a bottle opener key ring with a picture of the man himself, (you never know, you might know him!). He loved to travel, so it would be great to see how far he goes on this adventure. If he could get back to his favourite place, Arroyo de la Miel on the Costa Del Sol, that would be great, if not, then he loved to be by the sea, and the sunnier the better! Once again, it would be great to see pictures of him as he goes on his travels.
Anyway, I hope you like the cache, happy hunting! (And if you are wondering, the answer is yes! Every strand, tied by hand ! Lol ! )
