Quiero dedicar estos SEIS pequeños geocachés que componen esta serie a rendir un pequeño y sentido homenaje al pueblo que en 2007 me recibió con los brazos abiertos, y del cual me siento uno más desde entonces.
FORMENTERA DEL SEGURA (ALICANTE)
Formentera del Segura es un pequeño municipio (4,3 kms2 de extensión) ubicado en plena huerta tradicional de la Vega Baja y localizado en la margen izquierda del Río Segura a tan sólo 10 kilómetros de su desembocadura en Guardamar del Segura.
De origen islámico, fue señorío de Juan de Portugal (1357-1433), pasó en el siglo XIII a Jaime de Aragón. Durante siglos fue pasando, como venta, herencia o donación, por las manos de diferentes señores y nobles, hasta que terminó por último siendo propiedad del Marqués de Algorfa, el cual la cedió a su hijo Nicolás y éste, apoyándose en la ley Alfonsina, fundó el pueblo de Formentera del Segura. Así, se puede considerar que, históricamente, la población de Formentera nace en 1731 al amparo del privilegio alfonsino y a través de D. Nicolás Pérez de Sarrió, Señor de Formentera. El lugar perteneció a Orihuela, hasta el siglo XVI a partir del cual se hizo independiente de dicha ciudad. Tras los terremotos de 1829 que asolaron la Vega Baja, Formentera del Segura padeció una lenta reconstrucción, finalizada con la edificación de la iglesia parroquial en 1840.
Sin embargo, el 6 de noviembre de 1987, de madrugada, el rio Segura se desborda a su paso por Orihuela anegando toda la Vega Baja, y también, como no, a Formentera. A partir de ese momento se inicia el largo proceso de reconstrucción y modernización que da como resultado el actual casco urbano. En él se ha asentado una importante población de ciudadanos extranjeros que constituyen en la actualidad casi el 40% del censo de habitantes.
Y precisamente este caché tiene mucho que ver con ese desgraciado acontecimiento. En efecto, a raiz de aquella inundación se procedió a desviar el cauce del rio, estableciendo su actual configuración, con la construcción de toda la Mota del rio, cuya función es prevenir estos posibles desastres naturales. Y a la vez que se hacía, se ha acondicionado una isla central como zona recreativa y de ocio que acoge la Hermita de San Roque, con zonas de barbacoas y area de descanso, asi como escenario para espectáculos.
EL CACHÉ
POCO O NADA VOY A DECIR SOBRE ESTE CACHÉ PUES PRETENDO QUE SEA LA INTUICIÓN DE LOS GEOCACHERS LA QUE LES GUIE HACIA EL MISMO. iNCLUSO LAS COORDENADAS PUEDEN BAILAR UNOS METROS (HACÍA MUCHO VIENTO CUANDO LAS TOMÉ..... ^^ )ESPERO QUE LO DISFRUTEIS.

FORMENTERA DEL SEGURA
Formentera del Segura is a small municipality (4.3 km2 in area) located in full traditional orchard of Vega Baja and located on the left bank of the River Segura just 10 kilometers from its mouth in Guardamar del Segura.
