St Paul's Church is located on an elevated position on Sandgate Hill and is hidden away from the main road. It can be accessed via the entrance to the Saga site and there is a small carpark here.
St Paul's started as a small Episcopal Chapel built by the Earl of Darnley in 1822. It was built for the growing population due to the coming of the railway network to Folkestone and the surrounding areas, and was replaced in 1888 with the current building capable of seating up to 900 parishioners.
Please take ale the time to explore Sandgate which has a fascinating history embracing the times of Henry VIII, smugglers, threat of Napoleonic invasion, and vital military roles in two world wars. Sandgate even boasts it's own castle and has been the home to social reformers and celebrities of literature and arts from HG Wells to William Wilberforce, Hattie Jacques and more.
